Boston
Greater Boston is a small, dense region where soccer is played in a lot of languages. Brazilian, Cape Verdean, Haitian, Irish and Salvadoran communities each run their own leagues, college towns fill indoor courts through winter, and the New England Revolution play in Foxborough. The MCC Boston tournament for 2027 gives that scene a 5-a-side competition with three grounds and a route to the World Final on 7 July.
Three grounds, three champions
Two halves of 15 minutes on a stop clock. Every team plays three group matches in a group of four, and the top two go into the playoffs, where a tie level after two halves goes to penalties. Five weeks of football on each ground leave Boston with three Pitch Champions, and each goes straight to the Country Championship.

Winter indoor leagues and the first spring pitches
New England's long winters shaped how people play here. Indoor soccer and futsal fill warehouse floors and sports domes from November to March, so small-sided teams are already formed and fit when the snow clears. Cambridge and Somerville run late-night leagues, Everett and Revere have strong Latin American scenes, and the old mill towns north and south of the city keep club sides going all year.
When April arrives these teams move outdoors, and the format is the one they know: squads capped at nine, five players a side, two halves of 15 minutes on a stop clock. Teams that have played a winter season together will be sharp by the first group match.
North Shore, MetroWest and South Shore on the map
The three grounds split Greater Boston by direction. North Shore covers Lynn, Salem, Beverly, Peabody and Revere, on the Blue Line and the Newburyport and Rockport commuter lines. MetroWest covers Waltham, Newton, Natick and Framingham along the Mass Pike and the Worcester commuter line. South Shore covers Quincy, Braintree, Weymouth and out toward Plymouth, on the Red Line and Route 3.
Boston proper has no ground of its own, so teams from the city or from Cambridge pick the direction that suits them. Between 64 and 128 teams play at each ground, and venues are announced here as agreements are signed, with the cards above showing the current position.
April and May in Massachusetts, then the Country Championship
Early spring here is raw. Expect cold, damp days in April, sea wind on the coast and a gradual warming into May. The calendar is fixed: group weekends opening on 9, 16 and 23 April, playoffs from 30 April and a final at each ground on 9 May.
Boston's three Pitch Champions go to the United States Country Championship on 28 to 30 May 2027. Also in the field are winners from the New York area, Philadelphia and Washington DC Metro, from Atlanta and Miami-Fort Lauderdale, from Chicago, Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth, and from Los Angeles Metro. Then comes the continental stage and the World Final.
A spring season rather than a weekend cup
MCC covers five weeks in spring with a published format and a $20,000 prize for each Pitch Champion, and the winner has somewhere to go afterwards: the Country Championship, the continental stage and the World Final. Only amateurs enter, every entry names a Team President, and the conduct policy shows no tolerance for breaches.

Questions from Boston
How does a team enter MCC in Boston?
Register on this site and pick one of Boston's three grounds: North Shore, MetroWest, South Shore. One Team License per team: USD 1,200 for one year until 1 March 2027 (then 2,500), or 5,000 for three years. Payment and KYC verification follow the application.
When does the tournament start in Boston?
The Pitch Round runs 9 April to 9 May 2027 on all three Boston grounds. The group matches are played on 9-11, 16-18 and 23-25 April, the playoffs from 30 April, and each ground's final on 9 May. Pitch Champions go straight to the Country Championship on 28-30 May 2027.
How many teams can play in Boston?
Up to 384: each of the three grounds takes up to 128 teams, and each needs a minimum of 64 to run its round. A full ground puts an entry on its waitlist instead of turning it away.
What can a Boston team win?
$20,000 per Pitch Champion, $150,000 for the United States title, $500,000 continental and $5,000,000 for the World Champion - plus championship rings from Country level up.
Which ground should a Cambridge or Somerville team enter?
Whichever is easiest to reach by T or car after work. MetroWest is the natural choice for teams west of the river, North Shore for those north of the city, and South Shore for anyone down the Red Line toward Quincy.
Can a college or alumni team enter in Boston?
Yes, as long as it is an amateur team of up to nine players with a named Team President. Many Boston-area entries are likely to come from alumni groups and workplace leagues as well as neighborhood clubs.
Can a Brazilian or Cape Verdean community club enter as a team?
Yes, with a Team License and a named Team President, for a squad of nine players at most. Community clubs and league sides that already play futsal or indoor soccer will know the small-sided pace.
Is MCC linked to the New England Revolution?
No. MCC is an independent amateur tournament, with no professional club, stadium or league in it, and Boston teams enter on their own with a Team License and a named Team President.
