Miami-Fort Lauderdale
South Florida plays fútbol sala and 5-a-side from Hollywood down to Homestead, mostly under floodlights once the day cools. In 2027 the MCC Miami-Fort Lauderdale tournament sets up three grounds across Broward and Miami-Dade and opens its Pitch Round on 9 April. The World Final follows on 7 July for the sides that keep winning.
Three grounds, three champions
Two halves of 15 minutes on a stop clock. Every team plays three group matches in a group of four, and the top two go into the playoffs, where a tie level after two halves goes to penalties. Five weeks of football on each ground leave Miami-Fort Lauderdale with three Pitch Champions, and each goes straight to the Country Championship.

Fútbol sala and the evening game
Heat shapes the way South Florida plays. Matches tend to start after work, on lit turf fields and indoor courts. Latin American communities from Colombia, Venezuela, Argentina, Cuba and Brazil have kept futsal and fútbol sala going for decades, and Inter Miami is the area's best-known professional club.
Teams from workplaces, neighbourhood clubs and friend groups all fit the entry rules. The only conditions are amateur status, a named Team President and a squad of no more than nine. Informal groups that rent the same lit field every week fit as well as formal club sides, and nobody needs a league card from another body to register.
Broward, central Miami and Kendall on one map
Broward/North covers Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Pembroke Pines and Coral Springs. Central Miami takes in Little Havana, Wynwood, Hialeah and the Brickell and Coral Gables corridors. Kendall/South serves Kendall, Cutler Bay and Homestead and the suburbs along the South Dade corridor.
Most players drive, and I-95, the Turnpike and the Palmetto matter more than any rail map, although Metrorail, Tri-Rail and Brightline serve parts of the area. A ground plays its own complete round, with 64 to 128 teams, so a team does best to pick the one within a short drive of home.
MCC confirms one venue per ground through its pitch owner programme, and the cards on this page mark which ones are signed. Check the cards before telling your team where group games will be, since a ground without a named venue has none confirmed yet.
Dry season in April, the rains in May
April is warm and relatively dry in South Florida, with evenings in the mid 20s Celsius, and May brings the first of the summer rains. Group games fill the weekends of 9, 16 and 23 April, playoffs start on 30 April and every ground holds its final on 9 May 2027.
Pitch Champions move directly into the United States Country Championship on 28 to 30 May 2027, where Houston, Atlanta, Dallas-Fort Worth and the other American grounds send their winners. The continental stage comes after it, and the World Final is on 7 July 2027.
Why a season beats a cup day
South Florida already runs weekend cups, many tied to community festivals and club anniversaries. MCC adds a three-weekend group stage with playoffs behind it, penalties for level ties and $20,000 for each Pitch Champion, and a route out of Florida to a national and then continental stage that a one-day cup cannot offer.

Broward/North takes Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Pembroke Pines and Coral Springs. Central Miami covers Little Havana, Wynwood, Hialeah, Brickell and Coral Gables. Kendall/South serves Kendall, Cutler Bay and Homestead. Teams choose the ground they can reach most easily.
Is fútbol sala the same as MCC's format?
Close. MCC plays 5-a-side with two 15-minute halves on a stop clock and squads of up to nine. Teams from fútbol sala and futsal leagues will recognise the pace. Venues are confirmed through the pitch owner programme and named on the city page.
Can one club enter more than one team?
Yes. Each team needs its own Team License and its own named Team President. A club's teams may be placed in different groups or even different grounds, depending on where their players live.
