New York Metro
New York Metro plays its small-sided football across state lines. Indoor soccer leagues in Westchester, futsal courts in Queens and turf fields in Newark all run on weeknights, and the teams on them rarely meet. The MCC football tournament in New York puts three grounds on the map for 2027, one for each side of the river, and sends every Pitch Champion toward the World Final on 7 July 2027.
Three grounds, three champions
Two halves of 15 minutes on a stop clock. Every team plays three group matches in a group of four, and the top two go into the playoffs, where a tie level after two halves goes to penalties. Five weeks of football on each ground leave New York Metro with three Pitch Champions, and each goes straight to the Country Championship.

Soccer in the five boroughs and beyond
Ask a New Yorker where they play and the answer is usually a rented turf field, a school gym or a rooftop cage. Immigrant communities built much of the local game: Colombian and Ecuadorian leagues in Jackson Heights, Caribbean and West African sides in the Bronx, Portuguese and Brazilian clubs in Newark's Ironbound. Their futsal and 5-a-side nights already fill small fields across the metro area.
That makes the entry pool broad. Office teams from Midtown, college alumni sides, neighbourhood clubs and friends who pay for a Thursday slot together all qualify, as long as they are amateur and can field up to nine players. Teams new to organised play are as welcome as league veterans, and nobody needs a local club affiliation to register.
Which ground is yours: Bronx, Queens or Jersey
The Bronx/Westchester ground follows the Metro-North and subway lines north, taking in the Bronx, Yonkers, Mount Vernon, New Rochelle and White Plains. Queens/Long Island covers Flushing, Jackson Heights and Astoria, then runs out along the Long Island Rail Road into Nassau County. North Jersey draws on Newark, Jersey City, Hoboken and Paterson, all reachable by PATH and NJ Transit.
Players in Brooklyn and Manhattan pick whichever ground is quickest to reach after work. Each ground has room for 64 to 128 teams and plays a complete round of its own, so the choice between Bronx, Queens and New Jersey rests on the commute rather than on any ranking.
One venue per ground is confirmed through the MCC pitch owner programme, and the live cards below show which of the three already have a signed agreement. Until a card names a venue, hold off telling a squad where the Pitch Round will be played.
April and May in the tri-state area
Spring in New York is cool and changeable. Early April daytime highs sit near 15 degrees Celsius with a fair chance of showers, and May turns warmer and drier. Group football fills the three weekends beginning 9 April, the playoffs open on 30 April, and each ground crowns its champion in the final of 9 May 2027.
A Pitch Champion from any of the three grounds moves directly into the United States Country Championship, 28 to 30 May 2027, alongside teams from Boston, Philadelphia, Washington DC Metro and the other American grounds. The continental stage comes next, with the World Final on 7 July 2027.
How MCC differs from a weekend cup
A typical weekend cup in the metro area ends with a trophy and a team photo. MCC is a season: groups of four, three group matches each, playoffs, penalties for any level tie and $20,000 for each Pitch Champion, with a defined road to the next stage. Teams stay amateur, name a Team President and accept a zero-tolerance conduct policy.

Questions from New York Metro
How does a team enter MCC in New York Metro?
Register on this site and pick one of New York Metro's three grounds: Bronx/Westchester, Queens/Long Island, North Jersey. One Team License per team: USD 1,200 for one year until 1 March 2027 (then 2,500), or 5,000 for three years. Payment and KYC verification follow the application.
When does the tournament start in New York Metro?
The Pitch Round runs 9 April to 9 May 2027 on all three New York Metro grounds. The group matches are played on 9-11, 16-18 and 23-25 April, the playoffs from 30 April, and each ground's final on 9 May. Pitch Champions go straight to the Country Championship on 28-30 May 2027.
How many teams can play in New York Metro?
Up to 384: each of the three grounds takes up to 128 teams, and each needs a minimum of 64 to run its round. A full ground puts an entry on its waitlist instead of turning it away.
What can a New York Metro team win?
$20,000 per Pitch Champion, $150,000 for the United States title, $500,000 continental and $5,000,000 for the World Champion - plus championship rings from Country level up.
Can a Brooklyn or Manhattan team pick any of the three grounds?
Yes. Registration is open to every amateur team in the metro area, and teams choose the ground that suits them. Most Brooklyn and Manhattan teams will weigh the subway or PATH ride after work against the ground's area.
We play indoor soccer on turf. Is that good preparation?
It is close. MCC matches are 5-a-side with two 15-minute halves on a stop clock, so teams used to indoor leagues and futsal already know the rhythm. Every venue is confirmed through the pitch owner programme, and its name appears on the city page.
Does a New Jersey side play in the same competition as New York clubs?
Yes. North Jersey is one of the three New York Metro grounds, and its Pitch Champion has the same $20,000 prize and the same place at the United States Country Championship as the other two.
Do we need a licence for every player?
No. Each team buys one Team License, and a Team President is named on the entry. Squads can have up to nine players, and the conduct policy covers everyone listed.
