Montreal
Montreal plays football in two languages and on two kinds of surface. Indoor halls carry the game through the long winter, and the parks come back as soon as the snow clears. The MCC Montreal tournament opens on 9 April 2027 across three grounds, with a Pitch Champion at the end of each one and a road that leads to the World Final on 7 July 2027.
Three grounds, three champions
Two halves of 15 minutes on a stop clock. Every team plays three group matches in a group of four, and the top two go into the playoffs, where a tie level after two halves goes to penalties. Five weeks of football on each ground leave Montreal with three Pitch Champions, and each goes straight to the Country Championship.

Soccer intérieur and the Montreal habit
In Quebec the game is called soccer in English and soccer in French too, with futsal and soccer intérieur used for the indoor version. Montreal fills its sports complexes with small-sided leagues from autumn to spring, and community clubs run teams in nearly every borough. The city also has a strong immigrant football culture, with Italian, Haitian, Portuguese and Maghrebi clubs of long standing.
CF Montréal plays at Stade Saputo in the east end, and its supporters give the city a real matchday culture. Most players, though, are on a Tuesday night schedule at a local arena or school gym, which is the group MCC is written for: amateur teams of up to nine, five on the pitch.
Laval, the island and the South Shore
The three Montreal grounds are split by water. Laval/North covers Laval and the northern suburbs, reached by the Orange line of the metro and the Highway 15 corridor. Central Montreal covers the island itself, from the Plateau and Villeray to Verdun and Saint-Laurent. South Shore covers Longueuil, Brossard and the towns across the river, with the Yellow line and the Champlain and Jacques Cartier bridges as the main links.
Each of the three grounds takes 64 to 128 teams and gets a single venue through the MCC pitch owner programme. The live cards show which grounds have one already, and a venue appears on this page after its agreement is signed.
April and May in Montreal, then the Canadian championship
April in Montreal can still be cold, with melting snow and cool rain, and by May the parks are green and the evenings mild. Group matches are on 9 to 11, 16 to 18 and 23 to 25 April. The knockout stage opens on 30 April and each ground ends with its final on 9 May.
Montreal's Pitch Champions go on to the Canada Country Championship on 28 to 30 May 2027, facing the champions of Toronto and Vancouver. After the continental stage the World Final falls on 7 July 2027. The prizes total USD 19.05 million, from $20,000 for a Pitch Champion up to $5,000,000.
One tournament across the language line
Montreal has plenty of borough cups and club festivals. MCC offers something different: a single published format that anglophone, francophone and allophone teams all enter on the same terms, with a Team President named on every entry and a zero-tolerance conduct policy. Matches are two 15-minute halves on a stop clock, and a level playoff tie is settled on penalties.
