Marseille
Marseille lives for football, and a great deal of it is played five a side on small pitches between apartment blocks, on the coast and in the suburbs. The MCC Major Champions Cup runs a 5-a-side tournament on three Marseille grounds in 2027: North Marseille, Aubagne/East and South Marseille. The winners head for the French Country Championship in May.
Three grounds, three champions
Two halves of 15 minutes on a stop clock. Every team plays three group matches in a group of four, and the top two go into the playoffs, where a tie level after two halves goes to penalties. Five weeks of football on each ground leave Marseille with three Pitch Champions, and each goes straight to the Country Championship.
North Marseille

Aubagne/East
64 to 128 teams · $20,000 to its Pitch Champion
South Marseille

Foot à 5 in a city built around Olympique de Marseille
Olympique de Marseille and the Stade Velodrome shape the city's football talk, but the playing happens on smaller pitches. Teams meet on city courts, in sports halls and on small artificial pitches, from the northern districts to the beaches and hills of the south. Groups of friends, workplace sides and local clubs play late into the evening because the climate allows it.
MCC gives those teams a structure that ends somewhere. Squads hold up to nine, matches are two 15-minute halves on a stop clock inside 40-minute slots, and groups of four play three games each. The top two reach the playoffs, and penalties settle any level playoff.
North Marseille, Aubagne and the south
North Marseille serves the northern districts of the city, with a good deal of dense neighbourhood football. Aubagne/East extends east of the city to Aubagne and the neighbouring towns of the Huveaune valley. South Marseille covers the Prado, Mazargues, Sainte-Marguerite and the coast road to the Calanques.
Metro, tram, bus and car all bring teams in, and many will want a ground close to the ring road. Each ground takes between 64 and 128 teams and has one Pitch Champion. Its venue is confirmed individually and appears on the live cards when the agreement is signed.
Spring in Marseille and the road to Paris, Lyon and Lille
Marseille in April and May is warm and bright, with the odd mistral and little rain. Group matches fill 9 to 11, 16 to 18 and 23 to 25 April 2027, playoffs run from 30 April, and the finals are on 9 May. Evenings are mild enough for outdoor football.
The three Marseille champions travel to the Country Championship on 28 to 30 May 2027 to meet winners from Paris, Lyon and Lille. Those who win it move on to the continental stage, with the World Final on 7 July 2027.
How MCC differs from a Marseille quartier cup
Quartier cups in Marseille are lively and often loud, but they finish within a day. MCC stretches over five weeks with fixtures published early, and each ground's champion collects $20,000. Teams hold a Team Licence, amateurs only, with a Team President named on the entry, and the conduct policy is zero tolerance.

Questions from Marseille
How does a team enter MCC in Marseille?
Register on this site and pick one of Marseille's three grounds: North Marseille, Aubagne/East, South Marseille. One Team License per team: USD 1,200 for one year until 1 March 2027 (then 2,500), or 5,000 for three years. Payment and KYC verification follow the application.
When does the tournament start in Marseille?
The Pitch Round runs 9 April to 9 May 2027 on all three Marseille grounds. The group matches are played on 9-11, 16-18 and 23-25 April, the playoffs from 30 April, and each ground's final on 9 May. Pitch Champions go straight to the Country Championship on 28-30 May 2027.
How many teams can play in Marseille?
Up to 384: each of the three grounds takes up to 128 teams, and each needs a minimum of 64 to run its round. A full ground puts an entry on its waitlist instead of turning it away.
What can a Marseille team win?
$20,000 per Pitch Champion, $150,000 for the France title, $500,000 continental and $5,000,000 for the World Champion - plus championship rings from Country level up.
Can a team from Aix-en-Provence or Toulon enter in Marseille?
A team registers for whichever of the three grounds suits it best. A side from Toulon may find Aubagne/East closest, while an Aix-en-Provence squad can weigh the routes to North Marseille. The Team President named on the licence is responsible for the squad.
How many teams play on each Marseille ground?
Each ground holds 64 to 128 teams, in groups of four with three group matches per team, in 40-minute slots. The group weekends are 9 to 11, 16 to 18 and 23 to 25 April 2027, and each ground crowns one Pitch Champion on 9 May.
Which Marseille ground suits a team from the Vieux-Port?
The central districts sit between the three grounds, so the best choice depends on the team's usual journey. Check the metro, tram and bus links to North Marseille and South Marseille before registering.
Do Marseille Pitch Champions play other French cities?
Yes. The Marseille champions meet the winners from Paris, Lyon and Lille at the Country Championship on 28 to 30 May 2027, before the continental stage and the World Final on 7 July 2027.
