Paris

Paris plays foot à 5 on indoor courts under ring-road flyovers, in suburban sports halls and on small synthetic pitches that stay booked all week. The MCC Major Champions Cup brings a 5-a-side tournament to the Paris region in spring 2027, with grounds at Saint-Denis/North, Creteil/East and Boulogne/West and a route that ends at the World Final on 7 July.

Three grounds, three champions

Two halves of 15 minutes on a stop clock. Every team plays three group matches in a group of four, and the top two go into the playoffs, where a tie level after two halves goes to penalties. Five weeks of football on each ground leave Paris with three Pitch Champions, and each goes straight to the Country Championship.

Le five and the Paris habit of small-sided football

Parisians book their football by the hour. Commercial centres in the banlieue, municipal gymnasiums and school courts hold teams of colleagues, old school friends, student groups and neighbourhood sides, and a Tuesday night five is as normal as a Sunday kick-about in a park. The capital's big names, Paris Saint-Germain, Paris FC and Red Star, give the region plenty to argue about.

The format is the one those teams already play. Up to nine on a squad, a stop clock across two 15-minute halves, 40-minute slots, and four-team groups of three matches. Two per group advance to the playoffs, and penalties decide a level tie.

Saint-Denis, Creteil and Boulogne

The three grounds are set on the edges of the city rather than inside the Peripherique. Saint-Denis/North draws on Saint-Denis, Aubervilliers, Saint-Ouen and the northern arrondissements. Creteil/East serves Creteil, Vincennes, Montreuil and the Val-de-Marne towns. Boulogne/West takes in Boulogne-Billancourt, Issy-les-Moulineaux, Neuilly and the western suburbs.

Metro, RER and tram lines will get most squads to a ground, which counts for more than the postcode when nine people come straight from work. Every ground takes 64 to 128 teams and names a single champion. Venues are confirmed one by one, and the live cards show each once its agreement has been signed.

Paris in spring and the French Country Championship

Paris in April is mild and unsettled; May is often warm, with light after nine by the last week. Groups play on 9 to 11, 16 to 18 and 23 to 25 April 2027, knockout play opens on 30 April, and each ground holds its final on 9 May.

Winners of the three Paris grounds meet those from Marseille, Lyon and Lille at the France Country Championship, 28 to 30 May 2027. The continental stage comes next for the French winners, then the World Final on 7 July 2027.

Why MCC is not another Paris tournoi

A typical Paris tournoi de foot fills a weekend and ends with a trophy. MCC lasts five weeks of fixtures, pays $20,000 to each ground's winner and sends it to the national championship. Teams enter on a Team Licence and must be amateur, each entry names a Team President, and the zero-tolerance conduct policy can end in revocation with no refund.

Questions from Paris

How does a team enter MCC in Paris?

Register on this site and pick one of Paris's three grounds: Saint-Denis/North, Creteil/East, Boulogne/West. One Team License per team: USD 1,200 for one year until 1 March 2027 (then 2,500), or 5,000 for three years. Payment and KYC verification follow the application.

When does the tournament start in Paris?

The Pitch Round runs 9 April to 9 May 2027 on all three Paris grounds. The group matches are played on 9-11, 16-18 and 23-25 April, the playoffs from 30 April, and each ground's final on 9 May. Pitch Champions go straight to the Country Championship on 28-30 May 2027.

How many teams can play in Paris?

Up to 384: each of the three grounds takes up to 128 teams, and each needs a minimum of 64 to run its round. A full ground puts an entry on its waitlist instead of turning it away.

What can a Paris team win?

$20,000 per Pitch Champion, $150,000 for the France title, $500,000 continental and $5,000,000 for the World Champion - plus championship rings from Country level up.

Can a team from outside Paris enter one of the three grounds?

A team picks the ground it can reach most easily when it registers. Teams from Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-de-Marne and Hauts-de-Seine are natural fits for the three grounds, and the Team President named on the licence answers for the squad.

Is the MCC format the same as foot en salle or futsal?

MCC is five a side with a squad of up to nine and two 15-minute halves on a stop clock. Teams used to futsal or to foot en salle will find the pace familiar. Officials come from MCC and teams do not appoint them.

How do Paris teams reach their ground on a weekday evening?

Metro, RER and tram lines reach the northern, eastern and western edges of the Paris region. Squads can check the route to the matching ground before registering, and the live ground cards name the venue once it is confirmed.

What happens after a Paris team wins its ground?

The Pitch Champion wins $20,000 and goes straight to the Country Championship on 28 to 30 May 2027. French winners then move on to the continental stage, and the World Final is on 7 July 2027.
