Stuttgart

Stuttgart sits in a basin of hills and vineyards where small-sided football is played in the valleys and on the plateau alike. Kleinfeld teams from the city, Ludwigsburg and Esslingen fill halls and artificial pitches all year. The MCC tournament in Stuttgart in 2027 sets up three grounds, a Pitch Round from 9 April and a World Final on 7 July.

Three grounds, three champions

Two halves of 15 minutes on a stop clock. Every team plays three group matches in a group of four, and the top two go into the playoffs, where a tie level after two halves goes to penalties. Five weeks of football on each ground leave Stuttgart with three Pitch Champions, and each goes straight to the Country Championship.

Swabian football on small pitches

VfB Stuttgart is the city's club and the region has a dense network of Swabian village and town sides, many with their own artificial pitch. Kleinfeld and futsal leagues use sports halls in winter, and workplace teams from the big employers of the region play year round.

MCC asks for a familiar setup. Teams play five a side from a squad of nine at most, in two 15-minute halves with a stopped clock, and each ground seats its teams in groups of four, three group matches apiece, ahead of the playoffs. Entry is by Team License, and a team may name up to nine players on its squad list.

Ludwigsburg, Esslingen and the city itself

Ludwigsburg/North serves Ludwigsburg, Zuffenhausen and the towns along the Neckar northward. Esslingen/East covers Esslingen, Bad Cannstatt, Fellbach and the Neckar valley. South Stuttgart takes in the city centre's southern districts, Degerloch, Vaihingen and the Filder plateau. The S-Bahn and Stadtbahn link most areas.

Between 64 and 128 teams enter a ground, each of which has a round to itself, so the nearest is the natural pick. Each ground gets one venue from the MCC pitch owner programme, and its name goes up on this page after the agreement is signed. Cards above mark the grounds with a venue and those where an operator in the area can still apply.

Spring in the Neckar valley and the next round

Stuttgart's basin warms early, and April is often mild with showers, which suits outdoor play. Groups are played on 9 to 11, 16 to 18 and 23 to 25 April 2027. Knockouts start on 30 April and the ground finals are played on 9 May.

The Stuttgart Pitch Champions then enter the Country Championship on 28 to 30 May 2027 with the winners from Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt Rhine-Main and Dortmund. The continental stage follows, and then the World Final on 7 July 2027.

Stuttgart cups and what MCC adds

The region has many club jubilee cups and company tournaments, generally one-day events. MCC runs over five weeks with a published format and a $20,000 prize for each Pitch Champion, and the winners move on. Only amateur teams enter, each names a Team President, and a zero-tolerance conduct policy applies.

Questions from Stuttgart

How does a team enter MCC in Stuttgart?

Register on this site and pick one of Stuttgart's three grounds: Ludwigsburg/North, Esslingen/East, South Stuttgart. One Team License per team: USD 1,200 for one year until 1 March 2027 (then 2,500), or 5,000 for three years. Payment and KYC verification follow the application.

When does the tournament start in Stuttgart?

The Pitch Round runs 9 April to 9 May 2027 on all three Stuttgart grounds. The group matches are played on 9-11, 16-18 and 23-25 April, the playoffs from 30 April, and each ground's final on 9 May. Pitch Champions go straight to the Country Championship on 28-30 May 2027.

How many teams can play in Stuttgart?

Up to 384: each of the three grounds takes up to 128 teams, and each needs a minimum of 64 to run its round. A full ground puts an entry on its waitlist instead of turning it away.

What can a Stuttgart team win?

$20,000 per Pitch Champion, $150,000 for the Germany title, $500,000 continental and $5,000,000 for the World Champion - plus championship rings from Country level up.

Can a Ludwigsburg or Esslingen team enter?

Yes. Two of the three grounds carry those names because the areas around them are part of the Stuttgart region. A team from any town can enter, but the ground in its own area will save the most travel.

Are Swabian village teams welcome?

Yes. Any amateur team of five to nine players can enter, whether it belongs to a village club, an employer or a circle of friends. A Team License and a named Team President are the only requirements for entry.

Does the hilly terrain matter for travel?

Mostly for the commute. The Stadtbahn climbs between the valley and the Filder plateau, and the S-Bahn links the outer towns. A team can check its route to the ground when the venue is announced.

What if our team plays futsal rather than outdoor 5-a-side?

It can still enter. The format is 5-a-side with a stop clock and 15-minute halves, played on the venue's pitches. Futsal teams usually adapt quickly, and the squad limit of nine allows for rotation.
