Dortmund
Dortmund is a working football city in the middle of the Ruhr, where a Saturday means Borussia and a weeknight means the local Bolzplatz or a hired hall. The MCC tournament in Dortmund in 2027 offers 5-a-side teams three grounds, five weeks of fixtures from 9 April and a route to the World Final on 7 July.
Three grounds, three champions
Two halves of 15 minutes on a stop clock. Every team plays three group matches in a group of four, and the top two go into the playoffs, where a tie level after two halves goes to penalties. Five weeks of football on each ground leave Dortmund with three Pitch Champions, and each goes straight to the Country Championship.

Ruhr football beyond the Westfalenstadion
Borussia Dortmund fills Signal Iduna Park, but most of the city plays elsewhere: on the Aschenplatz of a neighbourhood club, in the Kleinfeld leagues, in futsal halls during winter. The Ruhr has a long tradition of football played after a shift, and teams of colleagues, friends and old school mates are common.
That background fits the MCC format well. Teams field five, keep a squad of nine at most, and play two 15-minute halves with a stopped clock. Four teams share a group and each plays three games before the knockouts. Whatever the level, no team leaves with fewer than three matches.
Three Dortmund grounds by direction
The grounds are named for where they sit. North Dortmund looks toward the Nordstadt, Eving and Scharnhorst. East Dortmund covers Körne, Wambel, Brackel and the towns toward Unna. South Dortmund serves Hombruch, Hörde and the districts toward Witten. The Stadtbahn and S-Bahn network connects all three areas.
Between 64 and 128 teams enter each ground, and each ground has a complete round to itself, so teams can simply go for the nearest. One venue per ground is picked from pitch owners who apply, and it is listed on this page after signing. The cards above mark which grounds have a venue.
A Ruhr spring and the national stage
April in the Ruhr tends to be cool and showery, with warmer spells arriving through May. Groups play across the weekends of 9 to 11, 16 to 18 and 23 to 25 April 2027, knockouts open on 30 April, and 9 May brings the final at each ground.
Over 28 to 30 May 2027 the Country Championship brings Dortmund's three champions together with those from Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt Rhine-Main and Stuttgart. Whoever wins there moves to a continental stage, and the road ends at the World Final on 7 July 2027.
How MCC differs from a Dortmund cup day
Dortmund has street tournaments, works cups and club festivals throughout summer, usually settled in a day. MCC is a season instead: the format is published in advance, every Pitch Champion wins $20,000 and the winners move on from the city. Only amateurs can sign up, a named Team President is required, and the conduct code allows no leniency.

Questions from Dortmund
How does a team enter MCC in Dortmund?
Register on this site and pick one of Dortmund's three grounds: North Dortmund, East Dortmund, South Dortmund. One Team License per team: USD 1,200 for one year until 1 March 2027 (then 2,500), or 5,000 for three years. Payment and KYC verification follow the application.
When does the tournament start in Dortmund?
The Pitch Round runs 9 April to 9 May 2027 on all three Dortmund grounds. The group matches are played on 9-11, 16-18 and 23-25 April, the playoffs from 30 April, and each ground's final on 9 May. Pitch Champions go straight to the Country Championship on 28-30 May 2027.
How many teams can play in Dortmund?
Up to 384: each of the three grounds takes up to 128 teams, and each needs a minimum of 64 to run its round. A full ground puts an entry on its waitlist instead of turning it away.
What can a Dortmund team win?
$20,000 per Pitch Champion, $150,000 for the Germany title, $500,000 continental and $5,000,000 for the World Champion - plus championship rings from Country level up.
Can a team from Bochum, Unna or Witten join a Dortmund ground?
Yes. Any amateur team of five to nine players can enter, wherever its players live. Teams from the surrounding Ruhr towns often pick the Dortmund ground closest to their own side of the city.
Do Bolzplatz teams without a club qualify?
Yes. A team needs a Team License and a named Team President, but no club membership. Informal groups of friends and neighbourhood sides can enter as long as every player is an amateur.
Does a Borussia Dortmund match day affect the dates?
The MCC fixture dates are fixed: group matches on 9 to 11, 16 to 18 and 23 to 25 April 2027. Teams should check the Bundesliga calendar for travel on those weekends, since the stadium is in the same city.
How strong will the Dortmund field be?
A ground takes 64 to 128 teams and the standard varies, from casual groups to teams that play every week. The group of four and the playoffs give each team at least three matches whatever the level.
