Medellin

Medellin sits in the Aburra Valley with a metro line running down its length, and its football runs the same way: north to Bello, south to Envigado, with the centre between. Futsal and microfútbol courts fill the barrios on weeknights. The MCC Medellin tournament uses that geography for its three grounds, with the round running 9 April to 9 May 2027 and a path onward to the World Final on 7 July.

Three grounds, three champions

Two halves of 15 minutes on a stop clock. Every team plays three group matches in a group of four, and the top two go into the playoffs, where a tie level after two halves goes to penalties. Five weeks of football on each ground leave Medellin with three Pitch Champions, and each goes straight to the Country Championship.

Small-sided football in the valley

The city has two big clubs, Atletico Nacional and Independiente Medellin, and they share the Atanasio Girardot stadium. Away from it, the game people actually play is on covered courts in the barrios, on school grounds and at company sports clubs, usually as microfútbol or futsal with five to a side.

That is the culture MCC sits within. Nine-player squads, a stop clock over two quarter-hour halves and a three-match group suit teams used to short courts and quick turnarounds, whether they play after work in Laureles or on weekend mornings in Belen.

Bello, Central Medellin and Envigado

The three grounds are named for the valley itself. Bello/North serves Bello and the northern end of the Metro line. Central Medellin takes the middle of the city, including Laureles, Belen and the districts around the Estadio stop. Envigado/South covers Envigado, Itagui and the southern end of the line toward Sabaneta.

A separate round is played in each ground, so a team joins the one nearest home or work and spares itself a trip across the valley midweek. One venue is confirmed per ground through the pitch owner programme, and the live cards above show which are already announced.

Mild April evenings and the road to the Colombian final

The valley is warm without being hot, and April and May bring afternoon showers more than any dry spell. The first group weekend is 9 to 11 April, and the third and last ends on 25 April. Knockouts begin on 30 April, and the Medellin grounds each settle their champion on 9 May.

Medellin's three champions then travel for the country final weekend of 28 to 30 May 2027, with Bogota and Barranquilla sending their own winners. The continent-wide stage is next, and the World Final closes the season on 7 July 2027. Squads that win their ground should keep the end of May free and expect the season to run well past the Pitch Round.

A season, not a Sunday cup

Medellin teams can already find one-day cups and company leagues. What MCC adds is a five-week season, a published format, a $20,000 prize at each ground and a bracket that leaves the city. Players must be amateurs, every entry carries the name of a Team President, and the conduct policy allows a licence to be revoked with no refund.

Questions from Medellin

How does a team enter MCC in Medellin?

Register on this site and pick one of Medellin's three grounds: Bello/North, Central Medellin, Envigado/South. One Team License per team: USD 1,200 for one year until 1 March 2027 (then 2,500), or 5,000 for three years. Payment and KYC verification follow the application.

When does the tournament start in Medellin?

The Pitch Round runs 9 April to 9 May 2027 on all three Medellin grounds. The group matches are played on 9-11, 16-18 and 23-25 April, the playoffs from 30 April, and each ground's final on 9 May. Pitch Champions go straight to the Country Championship on 28-30 May 2027.

How many teams can play in Medellin?

Up to 384: each of the three grounds takes up to 128 teams, and each needs a minimum of 64 to run its round. A full ground puts an entry on its waitlist instead of turning it away.

What can a Medellin team win?

$20,000 per Pitch Champion, $150,000 for the Colombia title, $500,000 continental and $5,000,000 for the World Champion - plus championship rings from Country level up.

Which ground is right for a team from El Poblado?

El Poblado sits between the centre and the south, so Central Medellin or Envigado/South will be closest, depending on where most of the squad lives. Each ground plays a complete round, so choose by travel time.

Can a team from Sabaneta or Itagui enter?

Yes. Teams from the municipalities around Medellin can register. Envigado/South is the natural ground for them, and the same rules apply as for a team from the city itself: amateur players, a Team President and one licence.

Do we need our own court to enter?

No. A team registers and plays at the venue confirmed for its ground. Your own court is not needed, and the live ground cards show where a venue has already been announced.

Who do Medellin champions meet in the Country Championship?

On 28 to 30 May 2027 the three Medellin Pitch Champions play the Pitch Champions of Bogota and Barranquilla. The country winner goes on to the continental stage, and later to the World Final on 7 July 2027 if it keeps winning.
