Kuala Lumpur Metro

Futsal is a weeknight fixture across Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley, played under floodlights once the afternoon heat has passed. MCC arrives in 2027 with three grounds, North Metro, Cheras/East and Shah Alam/West, fixtures from 9 April and a Country Championship for Malaysia at the end of May.

Three grounds, three champions

Two halves of 15 minutes on a stop clock. Every team plays three group matches in a group of four, and the top two go into the playoffs, where a tie level after two halves goes to penalties. Five weeks of football on each ground leave Kuala Lumpur Metro with three Pitch Champions, and each goes straight to the Country Championship.

The Klang Valley plays futsal

Futsal courts in the Klang Valley sit beside shopping centres, in residential estates and on the roofs of car parks, and they are booked for most evening hours. Office teams, university societies, mosque and community groups, and old school friends all turn out, and the city's football culture is wide enough to include supporters of Kuala Lumpur City and Selangor alongside every amateur who plays on a court.

MCC works from the same five-a-side logic. A squad of nine at most plays two halves of fifteen minutes on a stop clock, and the top team of each ground takes $20,000 and moves on to the Malaysia Country Championship.

North Metro, Cheras and Shah Alam

North Metro covers the northern side of the city: Kepong, Segambut, Gombak and the Batu Caves direction. Cheras is the eastern ground, covering Cheras, Ampang and the corridor towards Kajang that the MRT now serves. Shah Alam is the western ground, taking in Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya and Shah Alam itself. Many teams in the valley already cross town by LRT, MRT, KTM Komuter or car, and the ground nearest to home keeps the evening commute short.

Every Kuala Lumpur ground has space for 64 to 128 teams and one venue, which the MCC pitch owner programme confirms and this page names once signed. The cards above show which of the three already have a venue and which are open to an operator.

Heat, rain and the road to the continent

April and May in Kuala Lumpur are hot and humid all month, with thunderstorms common in the late afternoon and no cool season to speak of. Group fixtures start on 9 April and recur on the following two weekends, then the playoffs begin on 30 April.

Finals take place on 9 May. Kuala Lumpur is the only Malaysian host city, so its three champions meet at the Malaysia Country Championship from 28 to 30 May 2027, and the national winners go on to the continental stage ahead of the World Final on 7 July 2027.

Why a season beats a one-night cup

Kuala Lumpur has many corporate futsal nights and community cups that finish in a day. MCC is a five-week competition with a published format, penalties for a level playoff tie and the same $20,000 prize on every ground. Only amateurs may enter, a Team President is named on each entry, and no misconduct is tolerated.

Questions from Kuala Lumpur Metro

How does a team enter MCC in Kuala Lumpur Metro?

Register on this site and pick one of Kuala Lumpur Metro's three grounds: North Metro, Cheras/East, Shah Alam/West. One Team License per team: USD 1,200 for one year until 1 March 2027 (then 2,500), or 5,000 for three years. Payment and KYC verification follow the application.

When does the tournament start in Kuala Lumpur Metro?

The Pitch Round runs 9 April to 9 May 2027 on all three Kuala Lumpur Metro grounds. The group matches are played on 9-11, 16-18 and 23-25 April, the playoffs from 30 April, and each ground's final on 9 May. Pitch Champions go straight to the Country Championship on 28-30 May 2027.

How many teams can play in Kuala Lumpur Metro?

Up to 384: each of the three grounds takes up to 128 teams, and each needs a minimum of 64 to run its round. A full ground puts an entry on its waitlist instead of turning it away.

What can a Kuala Lumpur Metro team win?

$20,000 per Pitch Champion, $150,000 for the Malaysia title, $500,000 continental and $5,000,000 for the World Champion - plus championship rings from Country level up.

Can a team from Petaling Jaya or Subang Jaya enter in Kuala Lumpur?

Yes. The Shah Alam ground is the natural fit for the western Klang Valley, and any amateur team that can reach a ground may enter it. Each ground runs a complete round with its own champion.

What is the weather like in Kuala Lumpur in April and May?

Hot and humid, with temperatures in the low 30s Celsius by day and afternoon thunderstorms common. Kuala Lumpur has no spring or autumn, so teams should expect the same tropical weather across the whole Pitch Round, 9 April to 9 May 2027.

Does Malaysia have one Country Championship or several?

One. Kuala Lumpur is the only Malaysian host city, so its Pitch Champions play the Malaysia Country Championship at the end of May 2027, and whoever wins it moves directly to the continental stage with nothing in between.

Can a squad mix workplace players and outside friends?

Yes, provided every player is an amateur and the squad is capped at nine. One person is named Team President on the entry, and the conduct policy binds every player.
