Busan

Busan is a port city of hills, beaches and tight neighbourhoods, and its futsal courts squeeze into all of them. MCC brings a 5-a-side tournament to Busan in 2027 on three grounds: Haeundae/East, Central Busan and Sasang/West. Each Pitch Champion goes straight to the South Korea Country Championship.

Three grounds, three champions

Two halves of 15 minutes on a stop clock. Every team plays three group matches in a group of four, and the top two go into the playoffs, where a tie level after two halves goes to penalties. Five weeks of football on each ground leave Busan with three Pitch Champions, and each goes straight to the Country Championship.

Playing small-sided football by the sea

Busan's football runs on a loyal local following. Busan IPark gives the city a professional club to follow, and the habit of weeknight futsal is strong in districts such as Busanjin, Dongnae and Saha. Courts are tucked between apartment blocks, school yards and port-side lots, and teams of colleagues, classmates and neighbours book them for a couple of hours at a time.

Local teams will find the MCC format familiar. Five a side, a squad of nine at most, two halves of fifteen minutes against a stop clock, and a Pitch Champion who wins $20,000 and a place at the South Korea Country Championship.

Haeundae, the centre and Sasang

The Haeundae ground covers the east coast, the Centum City business district, Suyeong and the line 2 corridor towards Gijang. Central Busan covers Busanjin, Dongnae and the old harbour districts around Nampo and Jungang. Sasang covers the west, including Sasang, Saha, Gangseo and the Gimhae airport side. Line 1 and line 2 of the Busan subway link most of these, with buses filling the hillside gaps.

Each Busan ground takes 64 to 128 teams and has just one venue, chosen under the MCC pitch owner programme. Once an agreement is signed, the venue is named on this page. Cards above show which of the three Busan grounds are taken and which a local operator could still claim.

April and May, then Seoul

Spring in Busan is milder than in the north, with sea breezes, some morning fog and the occasional shower. Group matches begin on 9 April, continue on 16 and 23 April, and the playoffs open on 30 April, so the first month of fixtures finishes before the heat of summer.

Every ground plays its final on 9 May. The three Busan Pitch Champions then go to the South Korea Country Championship on 28 to 30 May 2027 and meet Seoul's winners there, before the continental stage and the World Final.

What MCC adds to a local cup

Local futsal days in Busan tend to be one-day affairs run by clubs, companies or neighbourhood groups. MCC stretches over five weeks, with a group of three matches, a playoff round, a shootout when a tie stays level and a fixed prize fund. Entry is limited to amateurs, a Team President is named, and conduct rules allow no leniency.

Questions from Busan

How does a team enter MCC in Busan?

Register on this site and pick one of Busan's three grounds: Haeundae/East, Central Busan, Sasang/West. One Team License per team: USD 1,200 for one year until 1 March 2027 (then 2,500), or 5,000 for three years. Payment and KYC verification follow the application.

When does the tournament start in Busan?

The Pitch Round runs 9 April to 9 May 2027 on all three Busan grounds. The group matches are played on 9-11, 16-18 and 23-25 April, the playoffs from 30 April, and each ground's final on 9 May. Pitch Champions go straight to the Country Championship on 28-30 May 2027.

How many teams can play in Busan?

Up to 384: each of the three grounds takes up to 128 teams, and each needs a minimum of 64 to run its round. A full ground puts an entry on its waitlist instead of turning it away.

What can a Busan team win?

$20,000 per Pitch Champion, $150,000 for the South Korea title, $500,000 continental and $5,000,000 for the World Champion - plus championship rings from Country level up.

Is Busan's tournament open to teams from nearby cities?

Entry is by team, and a team chooses a ground in the host city it can reach. Squads from Gimhae, Yangsan or Ulsan can take the Sasang or Haeundae ground if the journey suits them.

Which Busan ground is best for a team in Seomyeon?

Seomyeon sits in the middle, so Central Busan is the nearest. A squad that lives along line 2 may find Haeundae just as easy, and each ground runs a complete round, so nothing is lost either way.

What is Busan's weather like in April and May?

Mild and breezy by the sea. Mornings can bring fog that lifts by mid-morning, with the occasional shower, and it is cooler than inland Korea. Spring conditions should hold from the first group weekend to the finals.

What comes after a Busan ground final on 9 May?

The Pitch Champion wins $20,000 and goes straight to the South Korea Country Championship alongside the champions of the other Busan grounds and of Seoul. The continental stage follows, ending with the World Final.
