Bangkok plays futsal under lights, on courts squeezed between condominiums, markets and expressways, and Thailand takes the sport seriously enough to have a strong national tradition in it. MCC brings a 5-a-side tournament to Bangkok in 2027 on three grounds, North Bangkok, East Bangkok and South-West Bangkok, and fixtures begin on 9 April.
Three grounds, three champions
Two halves of 15 minutes on a stop clock. Every team plays three group matches in a group of four, and the top two go into the playoffs, where a tie level after two halves goes to penalties. Five weeks of football on each ground leave Bangkok with three Pitch Champions, and each goes straight to the Country Championship.

Futsal after dark in Bangkok
In Bangkok the cooler hours belong to futsal. Courts on rooftops, in sports complexes and behind apartment blocks switch on their floodlights at dusk, and teams of office workers, students and neighbours book them by the hour. Clubs such as Port, Bangkok United and BG Pathum United give the city a top flight to follow, but the weeknight court is where most people play.
That makes the MCC format a natural fit. Squads hold up to nine, matches are two 15-minute halves against a stop clock, and each ground's champion wins $20,000 and advances to the Thailand Country Championship, the first step toward the World Final.
Three grounds along the BTS and MRT
North Bangkok covers Chatuchak, Lat Phrao, Don Mueang and the northern end of the city. East Bangkok takes in Bang Kapi, Ramkhamhaeng, On Nut and Bang Na, which the Sukhumvit line and the airport link serve. South-West Bangkok covers the Thonburi side of the river, including Taling Chan, Bang Khae and Phasi Charoen. The BTS, the MRT, express boats and buses all help, but traffic is heavy, so a team should pick the ground it can reach after work.
Each Bangkok ground has places for 64 to 128 teams and one venue only, picked through the MCC pitch owner programme. When the agreement is signed the venue is named here. The cards above show which grounds are taken and which an operator could still claim.
Hot season, Songkran and the road out
April is the hottest month in Bangkok, with the first rains arriving in May. Songkran, the Thai new year, falls on 13 to 15 April, between the first and second group weekends, so expect travel and family plans around it. Group fixtures begin on 9, 16 and 23 April, and playoffs open on 30 April.
Each ground plays its final on 9 May. Bangkok is the only Thai host city, so its three champions meet at the Thailand Country Championship from 28 to 30 May 2027, and the winners go through to the continental stage and then the World Final.
Beyond the one-day corporate cup
Bangkok companies and schools run futsal cups that finish in an afternoon. MCC runs for five weeks, with a group of three matches, playoffs, a shootout when scores stay level and a fixed prize for each ground's champion. Entry is for amateurs, every squad names a Team President, and conduct breaches are not forgiven.

How does a team enter MCC in Bangkok?
Register on this site and pick one of Bangkok's three grounds: North Bangkok, East Bangkok, South-West Bangkok. One Team License per team: USD 1,200 for one year until 1 March 2027 (then 2,500), or 5,000 for three years. Payment and KYC verification follow the application.
When does the tournament start in Bangkok?
The Pitch Round runs 9 April to 9 May 2027 on all three Bangkok grounds. The group matches are played on 9-11, 16-18 and 23-25 April, the playoffs from 30 April, and each ground's final on 9 May. Pitch Champions go straight to the Country Championship on 28-30 May 2027.
How many teams can play in Bangkok?
Up to 384: each of the three grounds takes up to 128 teams, and each needs a minimum of 64 to run its round. A full ground puts an entry on its waitlist instead of turning it away.
What can a Bangkok team win?
$20,000 per Pitch Champion, $150,000 for the Thailand title, $500,000 continental and $5,000,000 for the World Champion - plus championship rings from Country level up.
Can a team from Nonthaburi or Samut Prakan enter in Bangkok?
Yes. Teams from the surrounding provinces can enter a Bangkok ground if they can reach it. North Bangkok is the closest for Nonthaburi, and East Bangkok is closest for Samut Prakan.
How does Songkran affect the Bangkok fixtures?
Songkran falls on 13 to 15 April, after the first group weekend and before the second. Fixtures stay on the published weekends, so squads should confirm availability early and tell their Team President about travel.
What is Bangkok's weather like during the Pitch Round?
