Guadalajara

Guadalajara is a football city with two big clubs and a habit of playing on any flat ground available. Chivas and Atlas have shaped how the city plays for generations, and weeknight fútbol 5 fills canchas across the metropolitan area. The MCC Guadalajara tournament starts on 9 April 2027 with three grounds and a Pitch Champion at the end of each.

Three grounds, three champions

Two halves of 15 minutes on a stop clock. Every team plays three group matches in a group of four, and the top two go into the playoffs, where a tie level after two halves goes to penalties. Five weeks of football on each ground leave Guadalajara with three Pitch Champions, and each goes straight to the Country Championship.

Chivas, Atlas and the neighbourhood cancha

Guadalajara is split between two clubs, and the rivalry runs through offices, families and amateur teams alike. Chivas and Atlas share Jalisco's football calendar, and the Estadio Akron in Zapopan and the Estadio Jalisco in the city give the metropolitan area a matchday rhythm. Many amateur teams carry a club's colours and a loyalty to match.

Small-sided play goes by fútbol 5 or fútbol rápido here. Canchas with artificial turf operate in every colonia, leagues meet on weeknights, and company teams from the tech and manufacturing sectors play regular fixtures. A team already booked for a weekly slot is ready to enter.

Zapopan, Tonalá and Tlaquepaque

The three grounds follow the municipalities of the metropolitan area. Zapopan/North-West covers Zapopan and the north-west, reached by Periférico and the Mi Macro Periférico line. Tonalá/East covers Tonalá and the eastern edge. Tlaquepaque/South covers Tlaquepaque and the south, with Línea 1 and Línea 3 of the light rail connecting the centre to both sides.

Every ground gets one venue, confirmed by MCC through the pitch owner programme and named on this page after its agreement is signed. The cards above show which grounds have theirs. Each ground takes between 64 and 128 teams from across the metropolitan area.

Heat in May and the Mexico championship

Guadalajara is warm and dry through April and May, with afternoons often past 30 degrees until the rains come in June. Group games fill three weekends: 9 to 11 April, then 16 to 18, then 23 to 25. Knockouts open on 30 April, and each ground ends with a final on 9 May.

Each Pitch Champion moves on to the Mexican national stage on 28 to 30 May 2027, where the champions of Mexico City and Monterrey also play. A continental stage follows, and the World Final is on 7 July 2027. Prizes begin at $20,000 and reach $5,000,000.

Torneos in Jalisco and what MCC changes

Jalisco has no shortage of weekend torneos and league finals. MCC offers a longer season with a published format: a group of four, three matches, playoffs, and penalties for a level tie. Only amateur teams enter, each naming a Team President, and the same zero-tolerance conduct policy covers every ground.
