Oslo

Oslo has three MCC grounds for the 2027 Pitch Round, in North, East and South Oslo, and each holds 64 to 128 amateur teams in a 5-a-side tournament starting 9 April. Norway has no second host city, so Oslo's three Pitch Champions go straight into the Norwegian Country Championship from 28 to 30 May 2027.

Where Oslo already plays five-a-side

Norwegian football is a club game at heart, and Oslo has clubs such as Vålerenga, Lyn and Skeid in every part of town. Futsal and kunstgress pitches, the artificial surfaces dotted across the city, give teams somewhere to play small-sided football.

That is why MCC suits the city. Squads carry up to nine players. Each team meets the other three in its group, the top two move on, and a match is 15 minutes each way with the clock halted for stoppages, so it fits a 40-minute slot. A playoff still level at full time goes to penalties.

Reaching the North, East and South grounds

North Oslo is the ground for Grünerløkka, Sagene, Bjerke and Grorud, served by trams and the T-bane lines to the north. East Oslo covers Gamle Oslo, Furuset and Alna along the eastern lines. South Oslo covers Nordstrand, Bjørvika and the southern districts, reached by the Ring, tram and train.

MCC confirms a single venue for every ground through its pitch owner programme. Once that venue's agreement is signed its name goes up here, and the cards above mark which of the three Oslo grounds still have none. Hall and pitch operators in each area can put a site forward.

Oslo in April and May, then the Norwegian final

April in Oslo can bring cold mornings, sleet one day and sun the next, with temperatures from near freezing to about 10 degrees. The group games take three weekends: 9 to 11, then 16 to 18, then 23 to 25 April 2027. Knockout football starts on 30 April and the ground finals close the round on 9 May.

Norway has no other host city, so Oslo's champions compete among themselves at the Country Championship on 28 to 30 May. After that the winners progress to the continental stage, and the World Final follows on 7 July 2027. Prizes start at $20,000 and top out at $5,000,000.

Five weeks for amateur teams

An Oslo ground plays from 9 April to 9 May 2027 on a published format, with $20,000 for its champion and a world final at the top of the ladder. Entry is for amateur teams only, and every team names a Team President under a zero-tolerance conduct policy.
