Host a tournament in Athens

MCC is looking for one venue for each Athens ground: North Athens, West Athens and Piraeus/South. Whoever hosts takes in 64 to 128 teams of amateurs across the 2027 spring, and the format, entries, fixtures and prize money stay with MCC. If you operate small-sided pitches in Attica, here is what hosting takes.

What an Athens venue takes on

Think in terms of hours. The site needs free pitch time on three April weekends, again for the knockout dates that follow, and for one closing Sunday in May. With 40 minutes per match, a venue with a handful of pitches can carry a big field, while a smaller site can host a ground that starts near 64 teams. Entries, licence checks and officials stay with MCC.

Where in Attica a venue fits

A venue belongs to the ground whose area it sits in. North Athens covers the northern suburbs, West Athens the districts beyond Egaleo, and Piraeus/South the port and the southern coast. The live cards on the Athens city page show which of the three already has a signed venue and which remains open to an operator.

How to apply

Apply through the pitch owner application. For each Athens ground MCC settles on one venue and signs an agreement with it, and from then on the Athens page carries that venue's name for registering teams. The live cards show which grounds are still waiting.

Questions from Athens venues

Can an indoor hall in Athens host a ground?

A hall can apply as a pitch owner like any other site. The agreement covers hosting matches in 40-minute slots on the fixture dates, so an Athens hall needs time free on those weekends for its ground.

What if our site is near Piraeus but not in the port?

Apply as normal. Piraeus/South covers the port and the southern coast, and each of the three Athens grounds ends up with a single venue, named on the Athens page once signed.

Who finds the referees and runs the entries?

MCC does. Sign-ups happen on this site, and officials and crew join through the recruitment page. A venue hosts the matches on the fixture dates; neither it nor a team picks the officials.
