Host a tournament in Vienna
Austria has only one MCC host city, Vienna, and its three grounds, North, East and South, each want a venue. Running one means a 5-a-side tournament with 64 to 128 amateur teams through the Pitch Round, which ends on 9 May 2027 after starting on 9 April. The format, entries and a $20,000 Pitch Champion prize are MCC's to provide.
What a Vienna venue takes on
Court time is what a venue gives: group matches over three April weekends, then playoff dates and the 9 May final. Matches run in 40-minute slots, which makes the count of courts the thing that limits team numbers. Small sites start at 64 teams, and a large complex can fill all 128 places.
Which Vienna districts each ground covers
North Vienna covers Floridsdorf and the areas north of the Danube. East Vienna covers Donaustadt and the Prater side. South Vienna covers Favoriten, Simmering and Liesing. A venue applies for the ground its district falls under, and the live cards on the Vienna page show which remain open.
How to apply
Operators send in the pitch owner application. MCC confirms one venue for each Vienna ground and signs an agreement with it, and from then on the venue is named on the Vienna page, where teams look before they register for a ground.
Questions from Vienna venues
Can a Vienna sports hall or football club host a ground?
Yes. Halls, clubs and outdoor pitch operators are all pitch owners and can use the application. Once MCC confirms a venue for a ground and the agreement is signed, the Vienna page names it.
Does hosting bring the Austrian champion to our site?
Your ground's final is on 9 May 2027, and its Pitch Champion wins $20,000. The Country Championship on 28 to 30 May 2027 is a later stage for the three Vienna winners.
Who recruits the match officials in Vienna?
MCC does, through the join page. A referee, two assistants, a fourth official and crew are recruited there, and neither teams nor venues appoint them, so a venue only needs to provide the pitches.
