Host a tournament in Berlin
Berlin needs three venues, one for each ground, and each will run a field of up to 128 amateur teams in the stretch from 9 April to 9 May 2027. MCC supplies entries, fixtures, the format and the prize fund. Kleinfeld operators, sport halls with outdoor pitches and clubs with artificial turf anywhere in Berlin can use this page to see what hosting asks.
What hosting a Berlin ground requires
A venue puts its pitches at the tournament's disposal over three weekends in April, then for the playoffs that end with the ground's final on 9 May. Slots last 40 minutes, so a few small-sided pitches can run a full ground; a venue with less space can host one with a minimum of 64 teams.
Which Berlin districts each ground covers
North Berlin includes Pankow, Reinickendorf and Wedding. East Berlin includes Friedrichshain, Lichtenberg, Marzahn and Hellersdorf. South-West Berlin includes Steglitz, Zehlendorf, Schöneberg and Wilmersdorf. Apply for whichever of these areas your site lies in. Which grounds still lack a host is visible on the Berlin page's live ground cards.
The pitch owner application
Kleinfeld operators, Vereine and sports halls with outdoor pitches in any Berlin district can use the pitch owner application. MCC confirms one venue per ground, signs an agreement, and then names the venue on the Berlin page. The live ground cards show which of the three grounds are already confirmed.
Questions from Berlin venues
Can a Berlin Verein with its own ground apply?
Yes. Clubs, commercial operators and municipal sites can all submit the pitch owner application. MCC reviews the pitches and hours offered, then picks a single venue for each ground, and a signed agreement follows.
How many pitches does a Berlin ground need?
Each Berlin ground takes 64 to 128 teams, with each match using a 40-minute slot, between 9 April and 9 May 2027. Several small-sided pitches make a full ground easy to run, and a smaller site can take the lower number of teams.
Who appoints referees in Berlin?
MCC does. Officials and crew sign up on the join page, and neither teams nor venues pick them. The $20,000 Pitch Champion prize is not the venue's money either: it comes out of the published prize fund.
