Host a tournament in Cape Town
Cape Town needs three venues, one for each of the Northern Suburbs, Central/Southern Suburbs and Helderberg/East grounds. A venue taking a ground hosts the 2027 Pitch Round for 64 to 128 amateur teams, with the format, entries and prize fund coming from MCC. The page below sets out what a Cape Town pitch owner would be taking on.
What a Cape Town venue is asked to host
Matches are the venue's part; everything else comes from MCC. A Cape Town ground needs room for group fixtures over the weekends of 9, 16 and 23 April 2027, then playoff dates and a final on 9 May. Slots run 40 minutes each, and a ground holds between 64 and 128 teams.
How the grounds divide the Cape Town area
Bellville, Durbanville, Parow and Milnerton make up the Northern Suburbs ground. Central/Southern Suburbs spans the city bowl, Observatory, Claremont, Wynberg, Constantia and the neighbouring Cape Flats. Helderberg/East means Somerset West, Strand and Gordon's Bay. Venues apply for the area they sit in, and the Cape Town page shows which ground has no signed venue yet.
Putting a Cape Town site forward
Apply through the Cape Town pitch owner application. One venue is confirmed for each ground and an agreement is signed. At that point the venue is named on the city page, so entering teams know where they will play, and the live cards show which grounds are still open.
Questions from Cape Town venues
Can a school or club in the Southern Suburbs host a ground?
Yes. A school, club or commercial pitch complex in the Southern Suburbs is eligible to apply. The ground gets a single venue, and the Cape Town page shows its name once the agreement is made.
Which dates must a Cape Town venue be ready for?
Group matches fill the weekends of 9, 16 and 23 April, then the playoffs start on 30 April and every ground ends on 9 May 2027. Slots are 40 minutes, and the calendar is the same for all three Cape Town grounds.
Does the venue sell entries or pay out the prize?
No. Cape Town teams enter through this site, and MCC recruits match officials and crew through the join page. A venue's role is to host the fixtures on the published dates, with nothing to sell or pay out.
