Host a tournament in Abidjan
North Abidjan, East Abidjan and South-West Abidjan each need a venue. MCC confirms one per ground, and the chosen venue hosts the 5-a-side fixtures of its ground, in 40-minute slots, between 9 April and 9 May 2027. Anyone who owns pitches in Abidjan or its communes may apply. A venue appears on the Abidjan page when its agreement is signed.
What an Abidjan venue takes on
The venue stages the matches of one ground in 40-minute slots. They run across three April weekends, with playoffs from 30 April and a final on 9 May 2027. A ground starts with 64 teams at least and takes up to 128, one of them wins $20,000 as Pitch Champion, and MCC brings the entries, the format and the officials.
Where the three grounds sit
North Abidjan covers the northern communes such as Abobo and Anyama. East Abidjan covers Cocody, Bingerville and the side toward Grand-Bassam. South-West Abidjan takes in Yopougon, Marcory, Port-Bouet and the districts around the airport. Each venue belongs to the ground that holds it, and the live cards on the Abidjan page mark which grounds have one.
Applying as a pitch owner
The pitch owner application is the way in. For each ground MCC confirms one venue and signs the agreement, and from that day the Abidjan page names it. The commune a pitch lies in decides which of the three grounds it would host.
Questions from Abidjan venues
Can a school or club ground apply?
Yes. The pitch owner application is open to any owner of pitches in the Abidjan area, whether a school, a club or a private site. One venue is confirmed for each ground and an agreement is signed with it.
Does a venue need to be near the lagoon centre?
No. The grounds are areas of the wider city, and a site in any commune can apply for the ground that covers it. North Abidjan, East Abidjan and South-West Abidjan each have one venue to be confirmed.
Who supplies teams and referees at an Abidjan venue?
Entries come through MCC, and so do the match officials, who are recruited through the join page. Teams never appoint officials, so the venue has no such job: its part is hosting the ground's matches in 40-minute slots on the fixture dates.
