Host a tournament in Abuja
Abuja needs three venues, one for each of the Garki, Wuse and Jabi grounds. Nigeria has no other host city, so the winners of a ground here represent the whole country at the Country Championship. Each ground holds 64 to 128 amateur teams across April and May 2027, with the format, entries and prize fund supplied by MCC.
What an Abuja venue takes on
A venue hosts the MCC matches on its pitches. Group fixtures span three weekends starting 9 April 2027, playoffs begin at the end of that month and the final is on 9 May. Slots run 40 minutes, and an Abuja ground holds between 64 and 128 teams.
How Garki, Wuse and Jabi map onto the capital
Garki is the southern central area with its neighbouring districts. Wuse is the commercial and residential heart of the city, and Jabi sits in the north-west by the lake. Choose the ground whose district contains your site. On the Abuja page, the live cards show which ground still has no signed venue.
Applying as an Abuja pitch owner
Abuja pitch owners use the pitch owner application. MCC picks one venue per ground, and an agreement follows. After signing, the Abuja page names the venue so entering teams see where they will play, and before that the ground's card shows it as open.
Questions from Abuja venues
Can a private sports centre in Abuja host a ground?
Yes. Sports centres, clubs, schools and estates with suitable pitches are all eligible to apply. The ground gets a single venue, and the agreement is signed before the name appears on the Abuja page for teams to see.
What dates must an Abuja venue be ready to host?
The group stage starts on 9 April 2027 and uses three weekends. Playoffs follow from 30 April, and 9 May is the closing day for every ground. Garki, Wuse and Jabi share the calendar, and every match takes a 40-minute slot.
Who brings the teams and referees to an Abuja ground?
MCC does. Abuja teams enter on this site, and the join page recruits the officials and crew for each match. The venue hosts the fixtures on the published dates and does not appoint anyone.
