Baku
Baku plays mini-football the way other cities play cards: at lunch, after work, in any hall or yard with a goal at each end. The MCC Baku tournament turns that habit into a season. Three grounds open the Pitch Round on 9 April 2027, each crowns a Pitch Champion with $20,000, and the winners carry the city into the Azerbaijan Country Championship.
Three grounds, three champions
Two halves of 15 minutes on a stop clock. Every team plays three group matches in a group of four, and the top two go into the playoffs, where a tie level after two halves goes to penalties. Five weeks of football on each ground leave Baku with three Pitch Champions, and each goes straight to the Country Championship.

Mini-football in a Caspian capital
Azerbaijani players call the small-sided game mini-futbol, and it is everywhere in Baku: artificial pitches behind apartment blocks, rented indoor courts, university halls and office leagues that meet once a week. Supporters split between Qarabag, Neftchi and the other Premier League clubs, and those loyalties shape amateur teams as well.
MCC asks nothing exotic of a team already playing this way. A squad of up to nine plays five a side, over halves of fifteen minutes on a stop clock, in a 40-minute slot. Groups hold four teams, each team plays three group matches, and the playoffs come next.
North, East and South-West Baku on the map
The three grounds divide the city by where people live and work. North Baku looks toward Binagadi and the roads out to the Absheron peninsula. East Baku covers the Khatai, Sabunchu and Surakhani side. South-West Baku reaches Nasimi, Yasamal and the districts along the southwestern approach.
Teams get around by metro, bus and taxi, and each ground covers its own part of the city. A ground holds between 64 and 128 teams and plays its own Pitch Round, so a team plays in the ground for its own districts.
April wind, May sun and the Azerbaijan route
Baku is known for its wind, and April brings mild days of 15 to 20 degrees with gusts off the sea; May is warmer and steadier. Group play fills the weekends of 9, 16 and 23 April, the knockouts begin on 30 April, and the Pitch Round ends in each ground with a final on 9 May.
Azerbaijan has no second host city, so all three Pitch Champions of Baku meet at the Country Championship, 28 to 30 May 2027. The route then continues through the continental stage and ends at the World Final on 7 July 2027.
Why a tournament season beats a weekend cup
Corporate cups and holiday tournaments are easy to find in Baku. MCC asks for more: one Team License per team, a published format, a named Team President and a conduct policy that can end a licence without refund. Amateurs only.

Questions from Baku
How does a team enter MCC in Baku?
Register on this site and pick one of Baku's three grounds: North Baku, East Baku, South-West Baku. One Team License per team: USD 1,200 for one year until 1 March 2027 (then 2,500), or 5,000 for three years. Payment and KYC verification follow the application.
When does the tournament start in Baku?
The Pitch Round runs 9 April to 9 May 2027 on all three Baku grounds. The group matches are played on 9-11, 16-18 and 23-25 April, the playoffs from 30 April, and each ground's final on 9 May. Pitch Champions go straight to the Country Championship on 28-30 May 2027.
How many teams can play in Baku?
Up to 384: each of the three grounds takes up to 128 teams, and each needs a minimum of 64 to run its round. A full ground puts an entry on its waitlist instead of turning it away.
What can a Baku team win?
$20,000 per Pitch Champion, $150,000 for the Azerbaijan title, $500,000 continental and $5,000,000 for the World Champion - plus championship rings from Country level up.
Is mini-football the same as the 5-a-side format MCC plays?
Close enough that a mini-futbol team will feel at home. A squad can hold up to nine players, each half lasts 15 minutes with the clock stopped at every pause, and penalties settle any playoff tie that is level after normal time.
Which Baku ground suits a team from Yasamal or Nasimi?
South-West Baku is the natural fit for those districts. Teams from the Khatai or Sabunchu side would look at East Baku, but any ground works, since each one runs its own full round.
Can a university team in Baku enter the tournament?
Yes, provided the players are amateurs. A students' team holds a single Team License, names a Team President on the entry and registers a squad of up to nine players, like any other team.
Can an office team in Baku enter together?
Yes, provided the players are amateurs. The team holds a single Team License, names a Team President on the entry and registers a squad of up to nine players. Entry is for amateur sides only.
