Porto
Porto plays its football hard and close to home, and the small-sided game is no exception: futsal halls, parish pavilions and artificial pitches fill up every evening on both banks of the Douro. The MCC Porto tournament in 2027 puts three grounds on that map, Matosinhos, Gondomar and Villa Nova de Gaia, for amateur 5-a-side teams that want a bigger stage than the local league.
Three grounds, three champions
Two halves of 15 minutes on a stop clock. Every team plays three group matches in a group of four, and the top two go into the playoffs, where a tie level after two halves goes to penalties. Five weeks of football on each ground leave Porto with three Pitch Champions, and each goes straight to the Country Championship.

Where Porto teams already play
FC Porto and Boavista give the city two football identities, and both feed a lively amateur scene underneath. Futsal is played in pavilhões run by parishes, clubs and schools, and in smaller rented halls where friends and colleagues book a weekly hour. Any such team of five to nine players can enter, and MCC asks only that every player is an amateur.
The match format is short and fast: two halves of 15 minutes on a stop clock, in a 40-minute slot, with penalties deciding any level playoff tie. Squads can hold up to nine players, and each group of four plays three matches before the top two go through.
Reading the map: Matosinhos, Gondomar, Gaia
Matosinhos is the north-west ground, on the coast beside the port and the beaches, and a metro line connects it with the city centre. Gondomar is the east ground, running up the Douro towards the hills and the older industrial towns. Villa Nova de Gaia is the southern ground across the river from the Ribeira, linked to Porto by the Dom Luís I bridge and the metro.
A ground holds between 64 and 128 teams and runs its own Pitch Round, so a Porto team simply chooses the one nearest to where its players live. Venues are confirmed one per ground and announced on this page when each agreement is signed.
Porto in April and May, and the road to the Portugal final

Questions from Porto
How does a team enter MCC in Porto?
Register on this site and pick one of Porto's three grounds: Matosinhos/North-West, Gondomar/East, Villa Nova de Gaia/South. One Team License per team: USD 1,200 for one year until 1 March 2027 (then 2,500), or 5,000 for three years. Payment and KYC verification follow the application.
When does the tournament start in Porto?
The Pitch Round runs 9 April to 9 May 2027 on all three Porto grounds. The group matches are played on 9-11, 16-18 and 23-25 April, the playoffs from 30 April, and each ground's final on 9 May. Pitch Champions go straight to the Country Championship on 28-30 May 2027.
How many teams can play in Porto?
Up to 384: each of the three grounds takes up to 128 teams, and each needs a minimum of 64 to run its round. A full ground puts an entry on its waitlist instead of turning it away.
What can a Porto team win?
$20,000 per Pitch Champion, $150,000 for the Portugal title, $500,000 continental and $5,000,000 for the World Champion - plus championship rings from Country level up.
Does our team have to be from the city of Porto itself?
No. The three grounds cover Matosinhos, Gondomar and Villa Nova de Gaia, and teams from the towns around them are expected. Pick the ground you can reach most easily, as each runs a full round of its own.
Is the Villa Nova de Gaia ground only for players south of the Douro?
It is built around the south bank, but nothing stops a team from the north bank choosing it if the metro or the bridge suits them better. Most teams will take the ground closest to home.
How does MCC treat a team made up of club veterans?
A veterans side qualifies if every player is an amateur. One Team License covers the team, a Team President is named on the entry, and the same conduct policy applies to everyone.
What is the prize for winning in Matosinhos, Gondomar or Gaia?
The Pitch Champion of each ground wins $20,000 and goes straight to the Country Championship, 28 to 30 May 2027, with no qualifier in between. Prizes across the competition run from $20,000 to $5,000,000, USD 19.05 million in all.
