Host a tournament in Bilbao
MCC is looking for one venue for each of its three Bilbao grounds: Getxo, Galdakao and Barakaldo. The venue behind a ground runs a fútbol sala style 5-a-side event for as many as 128 amateur teams through April and May 2027, while MCC provides the format, the entries, the fixtures and the prize fund. If you manage pitches or courts in Bizkaia, this page sets out what taking one on means.
What a Bilbao venue takes on
Hosting means giving pitch time on three April weekends for the group stage, then on the knockout days after 30 April and on 9 May for the ground's final. Since each match takes a 40-minute slot, the count of pitches you can open on those days sets the size of the ground, between 64 and 128 teams. Rules, draw and prize fund come from MCC, which also recruits the match officials and crew.
How a site fits Getxo, Galdakao or Barakaldo
Getxo covers the north-west coast and the right bank of the estuary. Barakaldo covers the south-west and the left bank. Galdakao covers the east and the valley inland. A venue applies for the ground whose area it sits in, and MCC confirms one venue per ground, then signs an agreement with it.
How to apply
Applying is done through the pitch owner application. For each of Getxo, Galdakao and Barakaldo, MCC settles on a single venue and signs its agreement; the venue's name then appears on the Bilbao page, where the live cards show which grounds have reached that point.
Questions from Bilbao venues
Can an indoor sports hall host a Bilbao ground?
The pitch owner application is open to indoor and outdoor sites alike. A ground plays its matches in 40-minute slots on the fixture dates, and between 64 and 128 teams enter across the Pitch Round.
What if my site is outside Getxo, Galdakao and Barakaldo?
The grounds are areas of the Bilbao region, not single towns: the north-west coast, the east valley and the south-west bank. Apply for the area your site lies in, since MCC confirms one venue per ground.
Who supplies the teams and the match officials?
MCC does. Teams enter on this site, each with its own Team License, and officials come through the join page: a referee, two assistants and a fourth official per match. A venue hosts the fixtures.
