Host a tournament in Bologna
Three Bologna venues are needed, one for each of the North, East and West grounds. A venue hosting a ground takes up to 128 amateur teams across the Pitch Round, 9 April to 9 May 2027, while MCC provides the format, the entries, the fixtures and the prize fund. Sports centres and calcetto operators in Bologna and its province can apply.
What running a Bologna ground involves
The host offers its pitches on the group-stage weekends of April and on the playoff dates after them, ending with the ground's final on 9 May. With 40-minute slots, a handful of small-sided pitches covers a full ground, and a ground can also start from 64 teams if a site is smaller.
Which Bologna area your venue belongs to
Apply for the ground closest to the site. North Bologna takes the station, Bolognina and the northern edge. East Bologna covers San Lazzaro di Savena and the Via Emilia to the east. West Bologna takes Casalecchio di Reno and the western approaches. The live cards on the Bologna page show which grounds have a venue.
Applying as a pitch owner
Sports centres and calcetto operators in Bologna and its province use the pitch owner application. MCC confirms one venue for each of the North, East and West grounds and signs an agreement with it, after which the Bologna page names the venue.
Questions from Bologna venues
Can a site just outside Bologna apply?
Yes. The grounds describe areas, not municipal boundaries, so a centre in San Lazzaro, Casalecchio or another nearby town can apply for the ground that covers it, and teams will usually prefer the one nearest home.
How many pitches does a Bologna ground need?
Between 64 and 128 teams play on a ground, in 40-minute match slots from 9 April to 9 May 2027. Several small-sided pitches make a full ground straightforward, and a centre with fewer can host a ground at the lower end of that range.
Who supplies officials at a Bologna ground?
MCC recruits referees, assistants, fourth officials and crew through the join page, so the venue never appoints them. Teams register on this site and the prize fund covers the Pitch Champion's $20,000.
